Individual Effectiveness
Executive Coaching Executive coaching
has surfaced as a leadership development practice during the 1990s and is now among the most widely used executive development
techniques. Executive coaching programs fall into two broad categories—
—Change-oriented Change-oriented coaching
emphasizes supplementing and refocusing the executive’s skills
—Growth-oriented Growth-oriented coaching emphasizes
accelerating the learning curve for high-potential or recently promoted executives
Regardless of orientation, coaching
programs typically have a duration of 6-12 months and follow standardized procedures. The successful coach must—
—discover,
clarify and align with what the client wants to achieve —encourage the client toward self-discovery of solutions and strategies —hold
the client responsible and accountable
Meetings are held at intervals to share feedback and review progress toward
goal attainment. Stakeholders in the coaching program (such as the executive’s supervisor or a human resources representative)
are kept informed about goals and progress. Confidentiality principles are stipulated to protect the specific content of the
coaching sessions.
Individual Consultations Diane and her colleagues are available for counseling sessions to help
individuals resolve interpersonal challenges, life changes and transitions, work/life balance issues, time management, and
anger management.
Counseling relationships may be short-term to deal with a specific situation, or they may be open-ended
to deal with ongoing personal issues. Diane and her colleagues offer flexible scheduling to meet your needs.
A successful
counseling relationship is developed around your needs and goals for the relationship. Diane will work with you to encourage
you in your efforts and help you to develop appropriate coping strategies as needed. |
